BMW M 1000 XR Unveiled

BMW has recently unveiled the M 1000 XR, the third model in its M line-up, which is powered by an engine identical to the S 1000 RR superbike. When installed in this motorcycle, it generates 201 horsepower at 12,750 rpm and 113 Nm of torque at 11,000 rpm.

For faster acceleration, the M 1000 XR has shorter 4th-6th gears than the S 1000 XR, as well as shorter final drive gearing, with a 47-tooth rear sprocket versus a 45-tooth unit on the S. The chassis is similar to the S 1000 XR, but the M 1000 XR includes winglets that give 12kg of downforce at 220 kph. The M 1000 XR features unique M brake callipers and discs to control all that power, and it even comes equipped with the Brake Slide Assist system.

The M Competition Package comes with fully adjustable M footrests for both the driver and passenger, as well as M Carbon wheels, M Carbon elements such as a rear wheel cover with an integrated chain guard, side panels, front wheel cover, inner cover, and ignition/steering lock cover, and a lap timer. Additionally, the M Competition Package contains M Carbon wheels. The weight of the M 1000 XR will be reduced by an additional 3 kg if equipped with this pack.

The S 1000 XR has also been modified for 2024 with more power, additional functions, and cosmetic changes. The S 1000 XR now produces 170hp at 11,000rpm, up from 165hp in the previous model. The torque remains unchanged at 114Nm at 9,250rpm. Seat height has been increased from 840mm to 850mm. The S 1000 XR now comes standard with the Headlight Pro function, a USB charger, and keyless entry. In addition, instead of black, the front beak is now finished in the same hue as the rest of the bike.
