Jeep Compass 2WD diesel automatic launched, starting at Rs 23.99 lakh

For Rs 23.99 lakh, Jeep has introduced the Compass 2WD diesel with an automated gearbox. Jeep has revamped the Compass with a new grille and an all-new style of alloy wheels in addition to this new powerplant option. With the Compass facelift in 2021, the American SUV manufacturer had already updated the Compass lineup in India.

The redesigned Compass is available from Jeep in five trim levels: Sport, Longitude, Longitude+, Limited, and Model S. The Sport trim is still the base model and is only available with the diesel manual engine. The manual version now costs Rs 20.49 lakh, which is also a price decrease. The new Longitude trim is the latest entry point for the Compass automatic range and comes with a manual and a 9-speed automatic gearbox. Fuel efficiency for the diesel automatic is 16.2 kpl, according to the manufacturer.

A panoramic sunroof and a wireless charger are included in the revised Compass Longitude+ trim and all the other goodies on the Longitude trim. The Jeep Compass Limited is the next vehicle on the list. The new Black Shark version has an all-black interior, black alloy wheels, and “Ignite Red” accents around the SUV.

The top-spec Model S completes the Compass lineup and is offered a new 2WD automatic powertrain in addition to the current 4WD automatic models. The alloy wheels on all trims have also been updated, while the new chrome grille is only offered on the Limited and Model S trims.

Jeep also debuted the Meridian Overland Edition, which features a copper-based interior colour scheme, a redesigned grille, and alloy wheels.

Previously, only the 4×4 versions of the Jeep Compass were available with an automatic transmission. With this introduction, Jeep wants to cater to people who want the ease of an automated gearbox without the 4×4 equipment.

A 2.0-litre diesel engine with 170 hp and 350 Nm drives the Compass. Due to BS6 Stage II pollution regulations, Jeep no longer provides the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine as part of the Compass lineup in India. However, as we’ve previously mentioned, the petrol versions are expected to return at some point soon.
