Kia registers 8 EV models in India

A few more models will soon join Kia’s rapidly growing lineup of all-electric vehicles with the EV logo, as the Korean manufacturer has hinted at unveiling several new models during its EV Day on October 12.

The names of the models give clues about their dimensions and placement in relation to one another. The EV1 is the most affordable model in the lineup, while the EV9 is the most luxurious and is the company’s flagship product.

The teaser graphic depicts a line of five vehicles: the EV9 SUV on the far left, the EV6 GT on the far right, and the new EV5 in the centre. Alongside these vehicles, two new electric vehicle concepts will unveiled: a saloon, like the one depicted to the left of the EV5, and a crossover, which might be called the EV3 Concept.

The EV6 crossover is already available for purchase in this market, while the EV5 debuted in manufacturing form only a few short months earlier. Initially, the 4.6-meter-long SUV will only be available for sale in China; however, it will eventually exported to certain other countries worldwide. Notably, the trademarking occurs just a few days before Kia’s EV day on October 12, when we may anticipate receiving additional information regarding the remaining models.

Recent spottings of testing have been made in international markets by a Seltos-sized upright SUV that, following its introduction, will most likely be referred to as the EV4. It will have a length of approximately 4.2 metres, and it is on this model that we anticipate receiving additional information during the upcoming Kia EV day.

As for the saloon, we have yet to see Kia test this style. However, we know the company intends to compete in every primary market, so a competitor to the Tesla Model 3 shouldn’t be too surprised. This is especially true when one considers that Kia’s sister company, Hyundai, already has the Ioniq 6 within its ranks. Regarding the name, we anticipate it will referred to as the EV4 Concept.
