Dolby plans to increase its visibility in the Indian auto market

Dolby, well-known for being a pioneer in noise reduction in professional, home, and movie studio recordings, has been growing its footprint in the automobile arena in India.

In 2021, the firm started into the vehicle industry by partnering with Lucid. Subsequently, the company worked with Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, Polestar, and Lotus.

Now, Mahindra will make history by becoming the first automobile manufacturer in India to provide Dolby’s services in its brand-new lineup of electric vehicles.

Dolby Atmos in cars

Dolby engineers say automobile audio tuning is easy

According to reports, engineers working for Dolby emphasised that cars offer a distinct advantage over other listening situations since the listener maintains a stable position around the speakers.

This makes it possible to tune the sound more efficiently, resulting in higher tunability and precision when constructing a three-dimensional soundscape.

Dolby Atmos was developed to have a modular structure, making it acceptable for automobile use, even with relatively simple audio systems.

A sizeable portion of the most popular songs is anticipated to be re-mixed for Atmos as streaming services continue to take the lead in the music experience.

Lifelike listening with Dolby Atmos

Dolby’s audio technology would make the listening experience in cars more realistic and precise if equipped with it.

Thanks to the Dolby Atmos sound system, listeners can experience the different instruments and vocals and their separation and placement.

Harman’s 360-degree surround sound technology will be included in the Mahindra BE range of electric vehicles. For a more premium experience, more expensive models may also have speakers on the roof and in the lower cabin.

Additionally, navigation cues and safety warnings for autonomous driving aids will be provided as a result of the agreement.
