Upcoming Tata Altroz Racer Spotted in Testing: Expected Launch in Early 2024

The Tata Altroz Racer was seen undergoing its initial round of testing. At the 2023 Auto Expo, a sportier variant of the hatchback was displayed. In comparison to the standard hatchback, this variant included a more robust engine, an increased number of features, and a sportier exterior design.

The prototype that was seen here is heavily hidden, but looking into the engine compartment reveals that it is, in fact, the Racer edition. It will be propelled by a petrol engine derived from the Nexon that is 1.2 litres in capacity, has three cylinders, and a turbocharger. This engine generates 120 hp and 170 Nm of torque. Compared to the iTurbo model, this one generates 10 more hp and 30 more Nm of torque.

The most recent Altroz test vehicle was discovered in Ooty, and it had a number plate from Maharashtra. There are no external markings that could point towards the Altroz Racer that can be seen on the car because it has been completely hidden. On the other side, there is a marking that reads ‘Racer’ that was scrawled by hand on the engine. It does not appear that this is a coincidence. In addition, the interiors demonstrate the existence of a 6-speed gearbox. All of this information, when taken together, creates a compelling argument that the test car is an Altroz Racer.

The outside of the concept model was shown to have a two-tone design consisting of black and red hues. The hood, roof, and alloys were all painted black, while the rest of the body was coloured red. In addition to that, it had white racing stripes, a large spoiler, and a shark fin antenna. In the final edition, we can anticipate significant alterations to the visual design to differentiate the two better.

Tata Motors displayed the Altroz Racer, which included a digital instrument cluster of 7 inches and a touchscreen infotainment system measuring 10.25 inches. In addition to such features, it also had a wireless charger, an air purifier, six airbags, and ventilated seats. The seating was covered in an all-black material with contrast stitching in a crimson colour.

Even though there has been no official word from Tata, the Altroz Racer might make its appearance by the end of the year or at the beginning of 2024. The Hyundai i20 N Line will be its primary competitor in this segment. It is anticipated that the hot hatch will include several brand-new features, which will allow it to charge a premium price. The current model can be purchased for a price that falls anywhere between Rs 6.60 and Rs 10.74 lakh. The Turbo petrol range begins at Rs 9.10 lakh.
