Volkswagen ID. GTI Concept Revealed

At the ongoing Munich motor show, the Volkswagen ID. GTI concept car was unveiled. The VW ID. GTI concept, based on the Volkswagen Born-EV MEB platform, wants to capitalise on the popularity of the GTI brand as part of its all-electric future goal. This idea, which pays tribute to the original Golf GTI fifty years ago, will come to life as a hot hatch variation of the future ID 2 hatchback.

The display car’s bold, sporty, and aggressive design language gives it a commanding presence on the road. Strong creases, an aggressive front bumper, a full-length light bar, quad taillights in a square shape, a roof spoiler, a forceful rear diffuser, and other characteristics define its stunning and daring appearance. For a spectacular appearance at night, the VW logo is also illuminated in white, and the headlights include the company’s IQ Light matrix technology. At the same time, substantial sills have GTI badges underneath the doors in all-black, plastic cladding that bulks out the wheel arches to allow 20-inch wheels with a double eight-spoke design that has a nostalgic appearance.

VW ID. GTI concept Features

Things start to become more concept-like on the inside. The GTI Digital Cockpit, a 10.9-inch screen with a head-up display projected on top, replaces the standard dashboard. The 12.9-inch infotainment display is above the centre console, while the GTI Experience Control, which features the recognisable golf ball design, is in the opposite direction. The steering wheel has an illuminated 12 o’clock marker and is as aggressive-looking as you would expect from a vehicle with the GTI badge.

Volkswagen ID. GTI Concept Mechanical Specifics

The only particular information Volkswagen has released regarding the technical specifications of this electric hatchback is that it has a single high-performance motor and a front-wheel electronic differential lock. With the GTI Experience Control, which can modify the suspension, steering feel, and sound and even recreate shift points to match GTIs from earlier generations, the electric hatchback will provide many personalisation possibilities.
